Description
Pini Kay briquettes – the concentrated ideal of firewood
Where can you get firewood that has only the advantages of wood fuel and no disadvantages? So that you don’t have to think about what kind of wood gives, how much soot, what the moisture content of the brought firewood will be, and where to find a place for a mountain of logs. It is unlikely that it will be possible to find firewood with such characteristics, but there is a more modern analogue – Pini Kay briquettes. They will serve perfectly in a heating boiler and a fireplace or barbecue. More and more people are switching to Pini Cays due to their convenience, economy, and environmental friendliness.

Fuel briquettes pini kay: description and parameters
Euro firewood pini kay are oblong tetrahedral or hexagonal wood briquettes with a round hole in the middle. The surface of such briquettes acquires a dark, almost black colour due to firing. They are so dense that they do not form crumbs or even dust.
- Calorific value – 4300-5000 kcal/kg
- Density – 1.08-1.40g/cm3
- Ash content – 0.5-1.2%
- Humidity – up to 8%
- Length – 200-300 mm
- Inner hole diameter – 10 mm
- External diameter – 60 mm
Advantages of pini kay briquettes
Before you buy Pini Kay briquettes, weigh all the pros and cons.
- Efficiency. The combination of high calorific value and low moisture content makes Pini Kay briquettes like coal in terms of heating properties. A tree can contain less than 8% moisture only after the drying chamber, and therefore, ordinary firewood will never have a working calorific value above 4500 kcal / kg.
- Versatility. If you buy Pini Kay fuel briquettes, you can use them almost anywhere you need solid fuel – from an industrial heating boiler to a campfire.
- Easy to use. They do not need to be chopped and dried before use and burn for several hours longer than firewood. There is no need to clean the firebox from ash and pipes from soot frequently.
- Space saving. A ton of such fuel is placed on a standard pallet, so storing it even in a small room will be convenient. In terms of density, they are superior to firewood and other types of wood briquettes.
- Environmental friendliness. Wood is a renewable natural resource, burning which does not disturb the balance of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In addition, the use of chips and sawdust in the production of briquettes makes it possible to use the resources of already cut trees to the maximum. Carbon monoxide and sulfur are practically absent in the smoke, and what remains after combustion can serve as a good fertiliser.
- Cosiness. Briquettes do not spark, do not emit unpleasant odours, and practically do not emit smoke during combustion, which means that they can be easily used in heaters with an open fire.
Disadvantages of pini kay briquettes
- Price. The price for Pini Kay briquettes is higher than for firewood and other briquettes. This is due to their high density.
- Moisture resistance. In a damp room, briquettes, like ordinary firewood, can absorb moisture and become looser, which reduces the calorific value.
Pini Kay production technology
Wood briquettes are made from sawdust, shavings and chips from pine or oak. They can be briquette without adding any binding elements since they contain a natural glue – lignin.
Main stages:
- Grinding. The raw material is crushed to a homogeneous mass, after which the chopped wood enters the sifter or separation drum for sorting. Sometimes grinding occurs in two stages: with a wood chipper and a hammer crusher.
- Drying. The air is heated and supplied to the drying drum. Sawdust also comes into it and is processed to a 10-12% moisture content. The sawdust does not stick together at a lower moisture content due to insufficient release of lignin, and at a higher moisture content, the briquettes become loose.
- Transportation. Dried sawdust is sent to the press via a screw conveyor.
- Pressing. Press extruder creates a pressure of 1100 bar, and heaters raise the temperature to 240-300°C. At the same time, the remaining moisture leaves the wood and lignin is released, which sticks it together into a briquette. Here, Pini Kay briquettes acquire their characteristic shape on the press matrix.
- Cooling. The formed tube from the press is sent to the cooling chamber and then transported to the packaging.
Additional equipment includes storage bins for sawdust, an extractor for removing water vapour and gases released during heating, a dividing wheel for cutting briquettes, fans, electrical equipment, etc.
Pine Key fuel briquettes: application features
As mentioned earlier, this is a versatile fuel. Here is a short list of household uses of briquettes:
- Solid fuel boilers and brick stoves in private homes
- Potbelly stoves in garages and cabins
- Baths
- Braziers
- Barbecues and barbecues
- Camping stoves
- Fireplaces
- Samovars
Pini Kay fuel briquette reviews show that you must follow specific lighting rules. Firstly, you should adhere to the general safety rules and care of heating equipment. Secondly, you shouldn’t put too many briquettes: they already burn long enough.
It is recommended to lay out the usual kindling materials in the firebox, such as paper and wood chips, and then lay out several briquettes, leaving gaps between them. Once they light up, you can add the rest. You don’t have to turn them over during the burning process because they burn for a long time and evenly without it.
Pini kay consumption for the heating season
The final cost of heating a private home depends on the area and characteristics of the room, as well as on the price of the home; for a house of 100 m2, which requires 70 W to heat 1 m2 per hour and is heated by a boiler with an efficiency of 80%, 20,100 kW of energy will be needed for five months of the heating season. Pini Kay briquettes have a calorific value of 4.5 kW / kg. Therefore, they need to be prepared in approximately 4.5 tons.
